  • Meet Dr. Andrea Kwiecien, O.D.
    Dr. Andrea Kwiecien, O.D.

A native southern Californian, Dr. Andrea Kwiecien has a genuine love of people and eye care. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude, from Arizona State University and her Doctorate of Optometry, with academic distinction, from Pacific University in 2011. Her path began with becoming inspired by her own first pair of glasses at age 13, impressed with the quality of life visual clarity provides.

During her undergraduate studies, she had the privilege of working in residential treatment in a group home for individuals with dual diagnoses of developmental delay and mental illness, that shaped her values of listening and kindness. When her son was 2 years old, he required an eye surgery for strabismus (crossed eyes), followed by vision therapy, which provided the appreciation for visual function that fueled her leap to return to college and become an optometrist.

Dr Kwiecien finds it important to get to know each of her patients as a whole person and stresses the need to talk about overall wellness. Practicing with her intellect as well as her heart, she believes that simply listening and being present with her patients is key to excellent patient care. Personally, Dr Kwiecien strives to live a balanced life, and maintaining relationships with her husband, son and friends is her source of joy. She believes in healthy eating and exercise, and enjoys gardening, reading and her two cats. She is excited to offer the best of patient care at Specs 20/20.

  • Staff
Cathy Schwartz ABOC, FNAO Operations Manager - Specs20/20

Cathy is committed to providing exceptional vision care to every patient. She came to Specs 20/20 after teaching Ophthalmic Dispensing at the Pacific University of Optometry for more than a decade, as well as managing all five of their Portland metro area Opticals.

With over 40 years of experience as an American Board-Certified Optician, she is passionate about introducing and selecting the best lens technology and frame designs for each, and every patient, as well as ensuring the frame adjustment and fit is correct. Cathy is amazed how often patients simply tolerate poor visual performance with outdated lens options and poorly manufactured frames pervasively sold in the marketplace. It absolutely makes her day when our patients not only look fabulous, but finally have the Aha moment and experience and realize enhanced vision and comfort through state of the art lens frame design and lens technology.

She regularly attends Vision Expos in New York City and Las Vegas and is always searching for the best in new frame styles and lens technology. Cathy brings clarity and simplicity to vision insurance and all things Optical. She is continually sought after as a consultant and mentor by the frame and Lens industry, and we are honored to have an individual with such vast Optical knowledge and expertise at the helm at Specs 20/20. Cathy was named one of the Vision Monday’s 35 most influential women in the Optical in 2011 in the Nation while serving as a board member of the National Academy of Opticianry, and is currently serving as Commissioner in the Commission of Optician Accredited Education Programs in the U.S.

Her experience included owning and operating her own optometric practice in Lake Oswego, managing several other practices, loves world travel, often serving on vision missions to underserved countries. Cathy particularly enjoyed the privilege of devoting two years delivering vision care to Alaska natives throughout the villages of South-central Alaska. She recently re-married, loves to travel, is a big fan of Oregon Ducks football and the Portland Trail Blazers, and at home usually has her head stuck in a book.
